Core Beliefs & values
The SCC Mission
Our mission is to be a place where you can belong, build a relationship with Jesus Christ, and bless our world.
Who We Are
Star City Church is a church whose purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We are Pentecostal because we identify with the Day of Pentecost experience as recorded in Acts 2. We adhere without waver to Apostolic Doctrine. We believe in worship without inhibition and that the power of God and Gifts of the Spirit are not only relevant for this day, but prevalent in every service.
The Word of God
We are founded upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. We believe in the great commission and are endeavoring to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, mercy and compassion.
One God
We believe there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4 ). He is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit).
Water Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38.
Spirit Baptism
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. Acts 2:4

We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps, and government. Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11

Daily Living
We believe Godly living must characterize the life of every child of the Lord, and we must live according to the pattern and example given in the Word of God. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.” (Titus 2:11-12) “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)(1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 2 Corinthians 6:17 – 7:1)

He is joined by his lovely wife, Tatjana, and their 4 beautiful children.

We Become Star City Church!

On February 3, 2021 Christ Memorial Temple officially became Star City Church! This special name is an ode to the official nickname of Lafayette, Star City, as well as our vision, found in the book of Matthew. Matthew 2:10 tells us “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.” In this passage a few magi in search of Jesus were led to Him by “the star” in the eastern sky. Our mission here at SCC is to continually be just as that same star, faithfully leading our city to the love of Jesus Christ. We introduce to you, Star City Church.

On the Move

We moved to our new location at 201 Veterans Memorial Parkway. On November 1st we officially signed for our future home, this was a miracle from the Lord. We were able to swap buildings with a local Nazarene assembly, acquiring 12 acres of land, and over 62,000 sq. ft. of space. After searching for two years, God gave us exactly what we wanted and more. (Deuteronomy 6:11). Planning for the future takes place in the present. Today is the tomorrow we prepared for yesterday. So as we cultivate a culture of unity and innovation, let’s honor our past, celebrate our present, and embrace our future. Its our FUTURE. It’s our FAITH. It’s our TIME.
